Please join us in congratulating Rock Star Member, Karen Rahming from Lyford Cay Club! Lyford Cay Club recently completed their first quarter with the Zest Wellness Program, and are off to a great start with their engagement.
Below, Karen shares her journey thus far with the Zest Wellness Program, and her advice for new members.
“Any good fitness program gives individuals the option to tailor it to their personal needs. The Zest Wellness program is very versatile and offers different ways to use it. You can take as much or a little of it as you need to suit your personal lifestyle.
As for me, I was already very health conscious and have tried off and on over the years to live a healthy life style. Fortunately I love vegetables and eat a lot of them, I sacrifice to purchase the healthiest foods, wild caught salmon, organic greens, spelt flour, and a daily green smoothie.
This, however, did not stop me eating chips, cookies, chocolate and fast food. What a combination right? I was excited to get on the Zest Wellness program because while eating the healthy stuff is not a problem for me, new recipes and activities are always welcome. The reminders to be more active is my favorite part of the program. When I feel the 7,000 step buzz daily I feel accomplished.
Another thing this program has done for me is motivate me to cut out the unhealthy foods just by helping me to stop and think about my choices.
I already had a consistent workout schedule but knowing I am a part of a group of others who are also making efforts to be more active motivates me to keep up. Knowing that others would be looking at how many steps I take daily makes me more competitive because, for sure I do not wish to be last on the charts.
The Zest Wellness program is a constant reminder of healthy habits like starting the day with a healthy breakfast, getting enough rest, taking periodic exercise breaks and taking the stairs whenever I can.
After a while this all becomes habit and you will no longer need to be reminded. I can’t keep up with it all but I take what I need and love knowing that I’m doing what I can to be a healthier me.
After yoyo dieting for years I am determined to never go on another diet, ever again. Healthy eating alone was enough to cause me to lose 14 lbs. in 4 months.
My advice to everyone is don’t be fooled into thinking that dieting is the best way to get healthy or lose weight unless you are severely obese. Decrease processed sugar and starches, fill up on fruits and vegetables instead and watch your life change.”
